Kirsten's Maine Garden Spring/Summer/Fall
Side yard when home was purchased. Transformed Side yard became a kitchen cutting garden.
While in Maine, Kirsten and her family lived in a traditional 1900's Victorian Farmhouse. Graced with a swampy side yard and sloping front, ornamented only by grass, a few shrubs and an enormous white pine, blocking the sun to the south side of the house (crucial solar heat in the Maine winter) Kirsten had her work cut out for her.
Over time, the garden grew and became a place for delighted observation, socializing, work and play.

Kirsten is still working to transform the garden at her new (to her) house in the Avent West neighborhood in Raleigh, NC. She's had one summer there, and is looking forward to seeing the garden grow and change this season. For an idea of Kirsten's NC gardening past, visit the North Carolina Bungalow.
